Experience

With a strong foundation in IT and software development, my career is marked by a dedication to addressing complex challenges and delivering impactful solutions. I began my journey as an IT Specialist in the US Military, where I developed a meticulous approach to troubleshooting, network management, and system security under high-pressure conditions. Transitioning into software development, I interned at Omega 365, where I played a key role in designing and developing web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL. My work involved creating responsive interfaces, optimizing databases, and operating within an Agile framework to deliver scalable software solutions. I further advanced my skills by working on projects in Java and C++, where I tackled complex problems and expanded my proficiency across various programming environments. My emphasis on creating user-centric applications and ensuring data integrity highlights my technical expertise and collaborative skills, equipping me to tackle new challenges and drive innovation in software engineering.

I developed an advanced web application to manage and visualize the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree requirements at the University of Houston. This project aimed to improve academic planning through an engaging and interactive platform. The application features dynamic Academic Maps that provide a clear, visually appealing overview of degree requirements. Students can explore course prerequisites, electives, and academic pathways seamlessly, facilitating efficient navigation and planning. I also designed a comprehensive administrative dashboard using JSON and web storage technologies. This dashboard simplifies course content management and offers real-time updates to ensure data accuracy and synchronization. The inclusion of real-time editing capabilities allows immediate updates to academic programs and curricula, aligning the system with current academic policies. Additionally, advanced features were integrated to enhance administrative efficiency, making this tool invaluable for both students and academic staff. Technologies used include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and Web Storage.

As a CSSI Scholar, I participated in an intensive summer program designed to elevate my web development and computer science skills. The program offered comprehensive training in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through both theoretical instruction and hands-on projects. I developed dynamic, interactive web applications with a focus on responsive design and optimal performance across devices. This experience was pivotal in enhancing my front-end development skills and understanding of industry best practices. Collaborative learning was a key component, involving team projects, mentorship from industry professionals, and participation in code reviews. These interactions were instrumental in refining my technical skills and grasping industry standards. Exposure to Agile development practices and version control with Git further solidified my foundation in modern web development methodologies. Technologies and tools used included HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Responsive Design, and Git.

In my role as an IT Specialist, I provided high-level technical support and system management in a demanding, high-pressure environment. My responsibilities included diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. I managed the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of various systems, designing and securing network infrastructures to protect against threats. I also created detailed documentation for IT processes and standard operating procedures, ensuring consistency and effectiveness within the department. By enforcing stringent security protocols and conducting regular audits, I ensured compliance with industry standards. Additionally, I developed training materials and provided support to military personnel, enhancing their ability to use IT systems effectively. This role required a high level of technical expertise and multitasking, ensuring smooth and secure IT operations. Technologies used included Windows Server, Linux, Cisco Networking, the ITIL Framework, Active Directory, VPNs, Firewall Management, and various system monitoring tools.

During my internship at Omega 365, I focused on designing and developing high-quality web applications with a strong emphasis on user experience and functionality. I created interactive web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap, ensuring responsive and user-friendly designs. My role involved refining user interfaces based on iterative design and user feedback, which was crucial for developing effective applications. I also worked on optimizing SQL databases to improve performance and reliability. The internship provided valuable experience within an Agile development framework, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews, fostering a collaborative environment and iterative development. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply best practices in web development and gain insights into professional development processes. Thorough testing ensured optimal performance across devices, emphasizing the importance of responsive design. Technologies used included HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and SQL.
